The Army Police Serve Up a Slice of Protection

Military police serve in all military branches including the Marines, Navy, Coast Guard, National Guard, Army and Air Force.

US Army Police Training

Enlistees seeking careers as military policemen must complete the usual 9 weeks of basic training, along with other enlists. During the first weeks of basic training, supervisors will choose the best candidates for military police careers and recommend those trainees for an additional 12 weeks of training that includes educational courses as well as additional physical training. Other enlists will be chosen for different military careers with in the different branches.

Using the Developed Skills after Active Duty in the Army

The skills learned in active duty as a military policeman prepares personnel for careers after completion of duty. Skills and experience obtained in active duty make veteran military police ideal candidates for job positions as civilian law enforcement officers. Services such as patrolling borders and roads, providing on ground and aerial surveillance, and guarding military bases and personnel are performed during active duty and great experience for civilian police careers. Many veteran military police retire from active service to jobs in civilian crime fighting because they find the transition very easy and comfortable.
