Do you want to be a part of the US Military? Do you like playing video games, but wish it were a little more realistic? US Army and Navy air traffic controllers work behind the front lines to direct pilots during take-off and landing.
What is the roll of an Army Traffic Controller?
Air traffic controllers, whether they be Army or Navy, keep the air field safe by directing air traffic in the sky and planes on the ground or ship during take-off and landing. Air traffic controllers work either on the runway directing individual planes, or in a control tower monitoring several planes at one time. Air traffic controllers in the tower relay radio messages to air traffic controllers on the ground and to the pilots of the planes. Air traffic controllers on the ground use hand held cones to signal messages to pilots on the ground that are landing or attempting to take off.

Army Careers can Lead to Higher Paying Civilian Careers
In order to obtain a job as a civilian air traffic controller, the applicant must be at least 30 years or have had previous experience in the job. Army and Navy air traffic controllers receive this experience during active duty by directing planes during takeoff and landing both from land and on carrier ships. This excellent training with hands on experience gives US Army and US Navy traffic controllers a definite advantage when it comes to landing a job that pays from $60,000 and up, per year.
