Rewarding Career as a Mortuary Affairs Specialist

It is an unfortunate truth that death is a part of life. The United States Army is sensitive to the fact this affects many people. This is a delicate matter which needs to be handled with the utmost care and precision. The US Army Mortuary Affairs Specialist is in charge of making sure every aspect of the deceased is taken care of. You will help to allow loved ones to begin the process of mourning.

Training for Your Career

In order to work as a Mortuary Affairs Specialist you will have to go through basic training. This will come in handy as often you will have to enter war zones to retrieve bodies. After basic training youo will have to go through seven weeks of advanced training in which you will learn the specific skills you will end up using as a part of your daily responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

A large part of your responsibilities will be with the deceased themselves including the preservation and the preparation of the remains to be shipped out to the families of the deceased. You will also be in charge of retrieving bodies and mapping out where they were found for later reference.
