Considering the reputation of Pakistan for harboring all manner of Al Qaeda and other terrorist cells, it is somewhat strange to see so much praise coming from an American military source for the somewhat lawless nation. Despite this, with the improved efforts to crack down on terrorists and other types of insurgents in the area, Pentagon officials have made a note of the fact that Pakistan is no longer safe for Al Qaeda leaders and other terrorist cells.
With stepped-up operations and a tremendous level of progress that has been made by the Pakistani military since August, many formerly lawless areas have been regularly patrolled and have given rise to all manner of progress in the area. As more and more effort is made on the part of the Pakistani government to regulate these lawless areas, some progress has been made and there are all manner of indicators of security gains and other success in the area to be taken into account.
Officials consider Pakistan’s recent success in security and military gains to be the result of the efforts of the new government, citing the efforts that have been made in recent months to weed out suicide bombers such as the individual that attacked the Marriott Hotel last month in the capital of Islamabad.
