The University of Alabama at Huntsville is Helping the US Army Modernize its Logistics Operations

The University of Alabama will be helping the US Army Materiel Command (AMC) to modernize its logistics operations. The UAH’s center for Management of Science and Technology (CMOST) will help to design an educational strategy to overhaul old habits and procedures as well as freestanding legacy systems. The objective of this project is to create a single modern, unified enterprise planning and management system for all of the Army’s acquisition, supply chain and logistics operations from raw materials all the way to units in the field. Over the course of nine months, researchers at the university will collect data so they can efficiently function within the Army’s new logistics enterprise system in order to provide training at reasonable cost. The Army in concert with UAH is trying to define the problem and determine training needs in order to find the best and most cost effective path the army can take while at the same time standardizing the process across AMC and its commands. The Army has asked UAH to determine the resource requirements need to establish a Center of Excellence which will serve to train and counsel Army personnel and provide problem solving for the Army.
