U.S. General Hopes for Obama to Act Quickly

United States General McKiernan expressed that he hopes that President-elect Obama will recognize the severity of the situation in Afghanistan and send additional support to help with the situation there. Although some reports state that the situation is slowly easing, General McKiernan feels this is related to certain areas only and needs closer scrutiny before a decision can be reached. Of the support General McKiernan would like to see in Afghanistan, he stated he feels more air, reconnaissance, transportation and other services are greatly needed there. Afghanistan is one of those complicated subjects that leave individuals wondering if Afghanistan is going to be a repeat of Iraq. However, regardless of what anyone believes of Afghanistan, all admit there is a rising situation that needs to be addressed by the whole world and not just the United States and Great Britain. It is expected with the additional troops that are due to be added in Afghanistan, the total of U.S. troops will rise to over 32,000. Multiple other countries have already pledged and committed their own forces to work together with the United States to make a difference in this area to stop the insurgents.
