Communication Is Everything

usarmycom-communications-career

Technology training is expensive and highly in demand. Television, radio, computers, security systems, industrial equipment, airports, the shipping industry, and so many more require knowledgeable service men and women to keep their communications systems up and running. Without communication, business and industry come to a screeching halt. You can get paid to learn these state-of-the-art technology skills with the United States Army.

As a highly trained Satellite Communications Systems Operator-Maintainer with the Army, you can be on the cutting edge of technology in the communications world. Not only will you receive a salary and extensive training, but the military offers a substantial benefits package to its service members. This is a career that can only get bigger. By starting today in the Army, you can create a lucrative career that will last a lifetime.

Satellite Technology Training

To qualify for this exciting career opportunity, you must be a U.S. citizen with normal color vision. You must also have completed one year of high school algebra and science and earned a minimum score of 120 in section EL of the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). If you meet these qualifications, you will be sent to Fort Gordon, Georgia, for 15 weeks of job skills training following your basic training.

The training you receive with the Army isn’t limited to satellites. You will also develop leadership, time management, and personal development skills. You will become physically fit, intellectually challenged, and professionally respected. You will be provided with continuing education opportunities and access to G.I. benefits if your tour of duty is long enough.

Satellite Maintenance And Repair

Your job will consist of installing, configuring, and operating satellite communications systems to ensure the reliable and secure transmission of military and nonmilitary data. You will conduct maintenance checks and quality control checks on circuits, systems, truck groups, security equipment, generators, and other peripheral equipment.

You will learn how to install tactical satellite antennas and other communications equipment and how to maintain the documentation requirements involved with communications systems. You will be involved with identifying and reporting jamming and deception activities and you will apply the appropriate countermeasures. Your efforts will protect American citizens and service members around the world.

Excellent Benefits Package

The United States military is known for its excellent benefits. Your salary and training are supplemented with free housing, full medical and dental benefits, food and clothing allowances, free and discounted travel and entertainment, military shopping privileges, discounted insurance, and many other benefits that make your military salary go much farther than its civilian counterparts. You will be able to provide a steady income, a family-oriented community and excellent schools for your children.

If you decide to leave the military, there are many civilian career opportunities for people with your skills. You will know how to install and repair electrical, electronic, and telecommunications equipment and radios and you will have the leadership abilities to make you an excellent front-line supervisor or shop manager.
